From 1 May 2025, 9 artists will move from the status of "new talent" to "established artist" on the basis of their past record sales.
In 2025, 9 French-speaking artists entered the "confirmed artists" ranking:
On 1 January 2022, the definition of "new talent" changed. From this date, any artist or group of artists who has not exceeded the threshold of 100,000 sales for two separate albums will be considered as "new talent", provided they have not already qualified as "established talent" under the definition previously in force.
Confirmed artists permanently lose their "new talent" status.
A confirmed artist is any artist or group of artists who has released a first record before 1 January 1974, or who has obtained at least two separate gold disc albums (i.e. twice 50,000 sales) before 1 January 2022, or who has exceeded the threshold of 100,000 sales for two separate albums from 1 January 2022 (if he or she had not already qualified as a confirmed talent before this date and according to the old definition).
A "sale" is defined as the sale of an album or sales equivalent corresponding to 1,500 listens lasting more than 30 seconds to tracks from this album on paid online music services, after subtracting from this total half of the listens to the most listened-to track on the album.
An "album" is any recording with 5 or more tracks or a duration of at least 25 minutes. Re-releases and "live" albums consisting wholly or mainly of tracks already marketed on previous albums are excluded.
