The French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication, Arcom, regularly involves the audiovisual media in awareness-raising initiatives of general interest, particularly in the fields of social cohesion, diversity and the fight agains homophobia and transphobia.

This Monday, May 17, 2022, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, reminds us that the fight agains harassment, discriminatory or hate speech, continues and that LGBT+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) people have the right to respect.

According to the barometer of the association l'Autre Cercle (Ifop February 12, 2020):

  • 1 in 4 LGBT+ people have been the victim of at least one LGBTphobic aggression in their organization ;
  • 41% of employees hear LGBTphobic expressions in their organization ;
  • Only 1 in 2 LGBT people are "visible" in their professional environment, whereas more than 2/3 are in organizations that have signed the LGBT+ commitment charter.

Arcom committed to diversity and inclusiveness and against discrimination

Among Arcom's missions, the promotion of diversity and the fight agains discrimination, which can manifest itself on the airwaves, plays a central role in social cohesion and media education, and is carried out in consultation and collaboration with the main players.

Representation of diversity, women's rights, the rights of the disabled, the fight against racial, religious or sexual discrimination - Arcom regularly raises awareness and mobilizes the media, while ensuring compliance with their obligations regarding the content of the programs they show.
