Arcom found that on Saturday 6 July at 12:30am, during the programme 100 % Euro, the M6 channel broadcast a live speech by a football player expressing a bias against a political party involved in the run-off for the legislative elections scheduled for Sunday 7 July 2024.

It found that the broadcast of these remarks during the reserve period contravened the provisions of article L.49 of the Electoral Code.

While it also noted that the disputed comments were made after the player had been encouraged to comment on the political situation by a person present on set, it was up to the service's publisher to make the participants aware of the need to comply with the applicable legal framework.

In these circumstances, the Autorité has asked the service's publisher to ensure strict compliance with the provisions applicable the day before and on polling day in future elections.
