Arcom was alerted to the announcement in the 10pm news bulletin shown on France Inter on January 8, 2024, of the number of Palestinian deaths resulting from the conflict in the Middle East.

It considered that the sequence had not respected the required oratorical precautions: the origin of the information in question was not indicated, and this information was not communicated in the conditional tense, even though this is required by the conditions for verifying the death toll in the Gaza Strip.

As a result, the Authority has firmly demanded that, in future, the service editor ensure that the particularly sensitive issue of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is treated with the utmost rigor on its airwaves, in line with the provisions of its regulatory obligations.
