The ‘Apolline matin’ programme, shown on 17 March 2026, featuring an interview on RMC Story
A complaint was lodged with Arcom following the diffusion of a segment from the programme *Apolline Matin* on 17 March 2026 on RMC and RMC Story, which featured an interview with the new mayor of Saint-Denis, Bally Bagayoko. The female presenter was accused of making the following remarks: “You said as much, in fact; you said ‘it’s also the city now’ – whilst one of my colleagues was asking you about the ‘city of kings’ – you said ‘it’s also the city of Black people’; does that matter to you?”
Meeting as a full panel on 30 June 2026, Arcom deliberated on the matter.
It considered that the person concerned, having been invited to comment on this statement attributed to him, was able to refute this claim during the programme. Consequently, Arcom considered that there was no need for it to intervene with the broadcaster.
In view of the numerous broadcast segments from the post-election period that were brought to its attention, Arcom decided to summon the broadcasters concerned to attention to the need to ensure that the editorial treatment of statements made by public figures does not, directly or indirectly, to convey representations likely to undermine their dignity or to fuel racist or discriminatory stereotypes.
