Arcom was approached by a presidential candidate concerning the exposure of his candidacy and his party in the audiovisual media.

The Authority noted that the candidate's candidacy was part of the "Primaire Populaire" (People's Primary) process. This process, like all primary elections organized by political parties, does not fall within its competence, particularly as regards the audiovisual media exposure of candidates taking part. This competence is exercised exclusively in respect of the elections provided for in the Electoral Code and the specific texts relating to the election of the President of the Republic and representatives to the European Parliament.
