The French Superior Audiovisual Council (Arcom since January1, 2022) has approved the takeover of TV Normandie, publisher of the service La Chaîne Normande, by Groupe News Participations (GNP), a subsidiary of the Altice Média group, as the transaction is not likely to substantially modify the relevant markets.
It also considered that the proposed changes were not such as to compromise the fundamental imperative of plurality and the public interest, insofar as the operation was not accompanied by a change in the name or format of the service, whose contractual obligations in terms of local programming would be retained, and complied with the anti-concentration scheme set out in the law of September 30, 1986.
