Arcom was alerted following the diffusion, on June 27, 2023, of a sequence on the program Le Live Toussaint on BFMTV, relating to the death of a young man on the same day.
She noted that the journalist had indicated on several occasions that the information provided came from the only police sources available at the time, and that it had to be confirmed, so that there did not appear to be a breach of the requirement for honest and rigorous reporting. In addition, the Authority has not found any elements in the reported statements that would disregard the principle of presumption of innocence.
Consequently, the Authority did not take any action against the service editor.
