Arcom was alerted to a special program devoted to the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paralympic Games, broadcast on France 2 on August 28, 2024, during which the book of a France Télévisions journalist was presented on air during his appearance on the program.
It considered that the twice split-screen display of the book by a recurring contributor to the channel, and the accompanying glowing remarks, constituted surreptitious advertising in breach of the provisions of article 9 of the decree of March 27, 1992 on advertising, sponsorship and teleshopping.
The Authority has therefore firmly warned the service editor against any repetition of such acts.
