‘Paris FC v OM’ programme shown on 31 January 2026 – interview on beIN Sport 1

A complaint has been lodged with Arcom regarding the diffusion of the Paris FC v OM match, shown on 31 January 2026 on the beIN SPORTS 1 channel, during which a commentator made the following remark about the sporting director of Paris FC’s women’s team: “She isn’t paying much attention […] I get the impression she was talking about lingerie […] clothes ”.

Meeting in plenary session on 30 June 2026, Arcom deliberated on the matter.

Pursuant to Article 3-1 of Law No. 86-1067 of 30 September 1986, the Authority “ensures respect for women’s rights in the field of audiovisual communication. To this end, it monitors […] the portrayal of women in these programmes, in particular by fighting against stereotypes, sexist prejudices, degrading images, violence against women and domestic violence ’. Article 2-3-3 of the BeIN Sports 1 licence agreement stipulates that the broadcaster shall contribute to this effort.

In this case, Arcom noted that the disputed comments were likely to perpetuate sexist stereotypes, thereby constituting a breach of the aforementioned provisions and stipulations. Whilst it acknowledged that the channel and the commentator had subsequentlyapologised , on the one hand, and that disciplinary measures had been taken, on the other, it nevertheless reminded the broadcaster of its obligation to fight against sexist stereotypes within its programmes.
