Presidential election 2022 - Sequence shown during the reserve period : LCI warned
On Sunday April 24, 2022, Arcom noted that the LCI channel had shown at 4:20 pm an on-set intervention by a journalist mentioning elements relating to the election results in overseas France.
Showed during the reserve period for the second round of the election of the President of the Republic, these remarks contravened the provisions of article L.52-2 of the French Electoral Code, which stipulates that " in the event of general elections, no election results, partial or final, may be communicated to the public by any means whatsoever, in mainland France, before the shutdown of the last polling station in mainland France. The same applies in overseas France before the closure of the last polling station in each of the departments concerned [...] II By way of derogation from the first paragraph of I, when the Republic forms a single constituency, no election result, whether partial or final, may be communicated to the public by any means whatsoever before the shutdown of the last polling station in mainland France. "
Arcom considered that, despite the interventions of the on-set female presenters, the diffusion of these remarks constituted a breach of the aforementioned provisions, which prohibit the diffusion of any element likely to give direct or indirect indications on the outcome of the election before the closing of the last polling station.
Consequently, the AMF warned the channel and demanded that, in future elections, it comply with the provisions applicable the day before and on polling day.
