A complaint was lodged with Arcom following the diffusion on France 2, on 27 November 2025 ,as part of the programme *Complément d’enquête*, of a documentary entitled ‘News or disinformation? The CNews method’.

Meeting as a full panel on 15 April 2026, Arcom deliberated on the matter.

It noted that, in the documentary in question, the information provided had been supported by identified means. It also noted that the CNews channel had been invited, through its representatives or employees, to set out its point of view regarding the alleged facts.

Taking all these factors into account, Arcom considered that there was no evidence in this case of the channel failing to meet its obligations regarding honesty and rigour in the presentation of information.

It did, however, draw the broadcaster’s attention to the fact that it would have been appropriate, on the one hand, to inform the public that RSF’s figures on the breakdown of speaking time among political figures were disputed, and, secondly, to clarify the scope of the CEPII study on possible links between immigration and crime, which did not include France.

It also emphasises, for the sake of clarity, that it cannot intervene in the editorial decisions of service editors and that the rules governing the role of journalists, set out in dedicated charters, do not fall within its competence but within that of the courts.

Furthermore, with regard to the potentially defamatory nature of elements of this documentary, it does not fall within the competence of Arcom to assess this, but rather that of the civil court.
