The programme ‘Le 5h–7h’, shown on 6 March 2026: an interview on Franceinfo (radio)
A complaint was lodged with Arcom following the diffusion on 6 March 2026, during the 05:20 and 06:30 news bulletins on Franceinfo, of footage relating to the application for interim relief filed with the Council ofState by a group of law professors concerning Arcom’s alleged inaction with regard to CNews and Europe 1, during which these broadcasters, as well as the controlling shareholder of the groups to which they belong, were described as ‘far-right’ ’.
Meeting as a panel on 22 July 2026, Arcom deliberated on the matter.
Whilst it did not find any clear breach of the broadcaster’s obligations, Arcom noted that the disputed remarks concerning the allegations raised by the applicants in the application for interim relief tended to attribute a political label to the editorial line of CNews and Europe 1 which was not apparent from the arguments put forward by the professors who brought the application.
Arcom therefore summoned the broadcaster to ensure compliance with its obligations of honesty and rigour in the presentation of information, particularly on such controversial subjects.
Furthermore, as regards the potentially defamatory nature of elements within these broadcasts, the assessment of this does not fall within the competence of Arcom but is a matter for the courts.
