The French Superior Audiovisual Council, which became the Autorité de régulation de la communication audiovisuelle et numérique (Arcom) on January1, 2022, was alerted to comments made during the programs L'Heure des pros and L'Heure des pros 2 shown on CNews on August 30.

While the Council understood that these comments may have been shocking, it nevertheless noted that they were part of a general-interest debate on the fight agains drug trafficking. Furthermore, no protected group within the meaning of article 15 of the 1986 law was explicitly targeted.

Thus, in view of all the exchanges, it did not feel that these remarks exceeded the limits of freedom of expression.

Consequently, the Conseil did not find the publisher in breach of its obligations.
