Arcom was alerted to comments made by Cyril Hanouna on the program Touche pas à mon poste! shown on December 10, 2023 on C8.

It considered that comments made about a public figure in the context of a media controversy between them did not exceed the limits of freedom of expression.

Arcom points out that, according to the established case law of the European Court of Human Rights, public figures are inevitably exposed to close scrutiny of their actions by both journalists and the general public, and must therefore be more tolerant of criticism.

Consequently, the Authority did not intervene against the service editor.
