Arcom has been asked by Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, to comment on CNews' coverage of the city's cleanliness policy on November 29 and 30, 2022.

It considered that the publisher had not disregarded the requirement for honesty in the information given the images filmed in Boulogne-Billancourt, nor the requirement for the subject matter to be appropriate to the images used to illustrate it.

More generally, the Authority considered that criticism of Paris City Council's cleanliness management policy and the proliferation of rodents fell within the scope of a debate of general interest, allowing for greater freedom of expression.

While certain comments may have appeared biased, many points of view were expressed on air, and viewers were informed of the plan put in place to fight agains the presence of rodents.

Consequently, Arcom considered that the service editor had not breached the obligations set out in the deliberation of April 18, 2018 relating to the honesty and independence of news and the programs that contribute to it.
