Deliberation of February 10, 2004 on the protection of children and adolescents on radio broadcasting services
In accordance with article 15 of the amended law of September 30, 1986, the French Superior Audiovisual Council is the guarantor of the protection of children and adolescents in programs made available to the public by an audiovisual communication service.
In particular, it must ensure that no program likely to harm the physical, mental or moral development of persons under 18 is made available to the public by a radio broadcasting service, except where the choice of broadcasting time ensures that minors are not normally likely to hear it.
Thus, between 6 a.m. and 10.30 p.m., no radio broadcasting service may show programs likely to offend the sensibilities of listeners under the age of 16.
Pornographic or extremely violent programs, for their part, are subject to a total ban on diffusion, due to the absence of a technical scheme enabling radio broadcasting services to ensure that only adults can access them.
This resolution will be published in the Journal officiel de la République française.
