Deliberation no. 2016-20 of June 29, 2016 by the French Superior Audiovisual Council on the period for assessing political plurality in radio and television services.

The French Superior Audiovisual Council, Having regard to Act no. 86-1067 of September 30, 1986, as amended, on freedom of communication, and in particular Articles¹, 3-1 and 13 thereof;

Having regard to deliberation no. 2009-60 of the French Superior Audiovisual Council of July 21, 2009 relating to the principle of political plurality in radio and television services;

Having regard to deliberation no. 2013-7 of the French Superior Audiovisual Council of April 23, 2013 relating to the procedures for recording and transmitting time spent by political figures on radio and television services;

After deliberation,

Decides :

Article 1

For the six-month period beginning August^1, 2016 and ending January 31, 2017, the French Superior Audiovisual Council will assess compliance with the principle of political plurality on all newspapers, news bulletins, magazines and other news programmes.

Article 2

The month of July 2016 is added to the^2nd quarter for newspapers and news bulletins, and to the^1st half-year for magazines and other news programmes.

Article 3

Publishers record and transmit to the Council the data relating to the time spent by political figures in accordance with the conditions, particularly in terms of frequency and format, determined by the Council. For the period from August¹ to August 31, 2016, the data will be transmitted to the Council on September 5, 2016.

Article 4

The present decision will be published in the Official Journal of the French Republic.
