Back in 2011, the supreme authority for the distribution and protection of intellectual property on internet (Hadopi) set up a barometer of the consumption of paperless cultural objects, measuring the online use of nine cultural goods: music, films, series, photos, video games, software and Ebooks.

These "usage" indicators, set out in decree no. 2011-386 of April 11, 2011 " relating to the indicators of the Haute Autorité pour la diffusion des œuvres et la protection des droits sur internet " published in the Journal Officiel on April 13, 2011, are published each year in the institution's activity report.

This new 2019 edition sees the scope of observation widened with the addition of online press and live sports broadcasts to the scope of the study.

Methodology: The ninth wave of the barometer is based on a quantitative study carried out by Ifop, in two phases: a telephone scoping phase with a sample of 2,010 individuals aged 15 and over, representative of the French population (quota method), followed by an online survey of 5,010 French Internet users aged 15 and over, from April 10 to May 2 (profile of Internet users determined in the scoping phase).
