With this report, Arcom takes stock of film programming on national free-to-air TV channels, excluding Arte and parliamentary channels, which fall within the competence of Arcom, France Ô, whose broadcasting ended in August 2020, and 24-hour news channels and RMC Découverte, which do not show films.

Summary

For all television services, the decree of August 5, 2020 authorized the raising of annual caps on the number of diffusions and titles of cinematographic works, which remain higher for cinema and pay-per-view services. In free-to-air channels, the daily restrictions on film diffusion on Wednesday and Friday evenings, and on Saturdays and Sundays before 8.30pm, have been largely abolished. The only remaining restrictions are those governing the diffusion of films on Saturday evenings, under different conditions for cinema services and other television services.
