Under the presidency of Roch-Olivier Maistre, the French Superior Audiovisual Council (French Superior Audiovisual Council), now the French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication (Arcom), has transformed itself to embrace all the developments at work in the French audiovisual and digital communication landscape.

With 6 major European directives and regulations and a dozen national laws, the institution's remit has been massively extended. The rollout of digital terrestrial radio and modernised digital terrestrial television, the inclusion of video streaming platforms in the scope of regulation, strengthening the fight against piracy, renewed initiatives in favor of on-air parity and diversity, program accessibility and the protection of persons under 18, renewed control of respect for plurality, energy sobriety and digital sovereignty: for six years, the regulator has seized its new powers and accompanied developments in the media with asserted independence.
