Born into a digital world of abundance and free content, 15-24 year-olds share a paradoxical vision of copyright - between valuing creation and rejecting its funding scheme - and are embracing the transition to an attention economy where the number of views generated now takes precedence over all other considerations.

Beyond a generational effect, often referred to as "digital natives", an analysis of the habits of youngsters aged 15 to 24 reveals a diversity of profiles, with online cultural practices varying according to life stage and age, as well as social background.

Awareness-raising among youngsters about the importance of royalties and respect for creation needs to be adapted, both in terms of messages and tone: generational discourse has its limits here.
