The French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication, Arcom, appoints the president of Radio France for a five-year term.

On Wednesday October 26, 2022, as part of the proceedings to appoint a new president of Radio France, as provided for in article 47-4 of the amended law of September 30, 1986 on freedom of communication, Arcom examined the applications received.

Arcom appoints Sibyle Veil as President of Radio France

Under the provisions of article 47-4 of the law of September 30, 1986, after hearing the candidates and voting by secret ballot, Arcom has appointed Sibyle Veil as President of Radio France, for a five-year term starting April 16, 2023.

Article 47-4 of the law of September 30, 1986 on freedom of communication, as amended by the law of November 15, 2013 on the independence of public audiovisuel, entrusts Arcom with the task of appointing the President of Radio France for a five-year term.

On July 27, 2022, Arcom published its deliberation on the procedures adopted for appointing the President of Radio France.

Applications

Candidates had until 5 p.m. on Friday, October 21, to submit their applications digitally to Arcom.

After reviewing the applications on Wednesday October 26, 2022, the Authority published the list of admissible applications and the related strategic projects on the same day.

Candidate hearings

On Wednesday October 26, by a majority vote of its members and by secret ballot, Arcom also drew up the list of candidates to be heard. This list is made public.

  • Mr. Florent Chatain on Monday December 19, 2022 at 9:00 am;
  • Ms Maïa Wirgin on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 11:15 am;
  • Ms Sibyle Veil on Monday December 19, 2022 at 2:30 pm.

The hearings will take place at Arcom's headquarters and will be shown live on the Authority's website, accompanied by French sign language translation and subtitling.
