The French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication, Arcom, is committed to developing its educational supplies, both under the provisions of media and information literacy and awareness raising for responsible Internet use.

January 24, 2022 marks International Education Day, proclaimed by the United Nations to celebrate the role of education in peace and development. This year's theme is "changing course, transforming education".

The French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication, Arcom, has been given the task of ensuring that TV and radio channels, as well as platforms, contribute to media and information literacy.

Arcom is particularly involved in this area, and has developed a number of teaching resources covering the following themes in particular:

  • gender equality in the media,
  • epresentation of French society and fight agains discrimination in the media,
  • freedom of expression and its limits in the media,
  • awareness-raising about responsible Internet use.

In November 2021, Arcom published its first report on audiovisual media initiatives in media and information literacy (MIL).
