As of May 1, 2025, 9 artists will be promoted from "new talent" to "established artist" on the basis of past record sales.
In 2025, 9 French-speaking artists enter the "confirmed artists" ranking:
On January 1, 2022, the definition of "new talent" changed. With effect from this date, any artist or group of artists who has not exceeded the 100,000 sales threshold for two separate albums is considered "new talent", unless they have already qualified as "confirmed talent" under the definition previously in force.
Confirmed artists no longer qualify as "new talent".
A confirmed artist is any artist or group of artists who has released a first record before January 1, 1974, or who has obtained at least two separate gold disc albums (i.e. twice 50,000 sales) before January 1, 2022, or who has exceeded the 100,000 sales threshold for two separate albums as of January 1, 2022 (if he or she had not already qualified as a confirmed talent, before this date and according to the former definition).
A "sale" is defined as the sale of an album or sales equivalent corresponding to 1,500 listens of more than 30 seconds duration to the tracks on the album on paid online music service supplies, after subtracting from this total half of the listens to the most listened-to track on the album.
An "album" corresponds to any recording with a number of tracks equal to or greater than 5, or with a duration of at least 25 minutes. This excludes reissues and"live" albums made up entirely or mainly of tracks already marketed on previous albums.
