2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games: Arcom brings together audiovisuel players and representatives of online platforms
In the run-up to the 2024 Games, being held in Paris for the first time in a hundred years, Arcom today brought together players from the audiovisual industry and representatives of online platforms, to invite them to continue their commitment to inclusive, ethical sporting practice, mobilized against all forms of discrimination.
The Paris Olympic and Paralympic Gaming Games represent an exceptional opportunity to show that sport, a source of inspiration for all, and particularly youngsters, concerns all audiences.
The regulator knows that it can count on broadcasters to promote women's sport, which is still not sufficiently present on the airwaves, in the context of these Games, which are being held for the first time on an equal footing. We also hope that this historic event will raise the profile of parasport and provide an opportunity for strengthening efforts to make programs covering the competition more accessible.
Furthermore, to ensure that the Games illustrate the values of respect, tolerance and social cohesion that sport embodies, Arcom has summoned the audiovisual media and online platforms to pursue their actions against all forms of discrimination and hate messages, particularly with regard to athletes.
The Authority also reminded broadcasters of the role they can play in encouraging the practice of physical activity free from risky behaviors such as the use of doping products.
Finally, thirty years after the "Toubon" law, Arcom reminds us that the Games will be a wonderful opportunity to give pride of place to French, the Olympic language.
