Arcom learned late yesterday that the blocking of the "jeanpormanove" streaming channel had been lifted, following a decision by the Kick.com platform. For several months prior to the death of Raphaël Graven, known as "Jean Pormanove" or "JP", the latter had been showing unbearable scenes of violence.

To justify its decision, Kick.com explains that this is the only means it has to meet the demands of the regulation and all stakeholders (ministries and OFAC), who have expressed the wish to access the audio and video content of the "jeanpormanove" channel in order to uncover any shortcomings committed by the platform in the moderation of its content.

Making recordings of the "jeanpormanove" channel available to the authorities cannot justify lifting the blocking of the channel for the public as a whole.

Arcom strongly condemns this decision, which runs counter to the platform's initial announcements, which seemed to have grasped the seriousness of recent events.

The Authority reminds Kick.com's management of their responsibility to reactivate the blocking of the "jeanpormanove" channel as soon as possible, and will examine all possible courses of action should the opposite occur.
