Arcom has authorised the broadcasters of national DTT channels to adjust their terrestrial coverage in three areas
The national broadcasters of digital terrestrial TV (DTT) channels, which currently show their programmes from 1,626 sites in the mainland, have expressed a desire to optimise DTT coverage in order to adapt to the shrinking viewership and advertising market, with the aim of preserving its economic viability and ensuring the survival of television diffusion.
In this context, they have submitted a demand to Arcom for a trial aimed at optimising DTT coverage for three transmission sites located in Saint-Paul-de-Salers (Cantal), Meyrieux-Trouet (Savoie) and Salavas (Ardèche). This modification to the network is accompanied by measures, funded by the broadcasters, designed to guarantee the continuity of television reception for the populations concerned: depending on the circumstances, this may involve re-orienting the rack antenna or switching to satellite reception.
At its plenary meeting on 8 July 2026, Arcom adopted the decisions authorising broadcasters to proceed with this adaptation of their diffusion network on 24 November 2026.
This development of the network does not affect the obligation to provide DTT coverage to more than 95 per cent of the population, as laid down in the Act of 30 September 1986.
