This week in Rome, the French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication (Arcom) took part in the kick-off meeting for an ambitious twinning project with the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine (NCTVRb).

Bringing together the Italian, French, German and Greek media regulatory authorities, the initiative aims to strengthen the Ukrainian regulator's institutional capacities, encouraging the adoption of European best practices in media regulation and the circulation of content on digital platforms.

This project, funded by the European Union (1.5 million euros over 18 months), represents an important step towards Ukraine's integration into the European media landscape. Through workshops, training sessions and experience-sharing activities, the European partners will contribute their expertise in key areas such as child protection, the fight against misinformation and hate speech, and the implementation of European directives and regulations on audiovisual and digital media services.

Cooperation between media regulators is crucial at a time when digital challenges and rapid technological developments demand coordinated responses and common strategies. These efforts are essential to regulate global digital platforms that are not always subject to the legislation of individual EU member states.

Arcom President Martin Ajdari said, "Arcom is proud to engage with the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine to participate in the construction of a plurality and independent audiovisual landscape, as well as a trusted digital space, as part of a twinning beneficial to both our authorities."
