Arcom pays tribute to the statement of case of Hélène Fatou, former member of the French Superior Audiovisual Council.
President Roch-Olivier Maistre and the members of Arcom were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Hélène Fatou, a woman of culture and a leading figure in child protection, who had served on the board of the former French Superior Audiovisual Council (French Superior Audiovisual Council).
A graduate in literature, Hélène Fatou began her career in the audiovisuel industry as a member of the ORTF television program committee. She then went on to create and run France-Régions 3's youth department for ten years.
Committed to greater democratization of access to culture, she initiated France's first television news programmes for children, "Hebdo-Jeunes", literary programmes such as "Des livres pour nous", and musical programmes such as the "Concerts des jeunes solistes européens".
Hélène Fatou was also behind the arrival on the public service of cult series and cartoons such as "Il était une fois l'homme", "Ulysse 31", "Lucky Luke" and "Inspecteur Gadget". She also initiated the first subtitled programmes for hearing-impaired children, and published some forty books for youngsters.
At the French Superior Audiovisual Council, of which she was a member between 1997 and 2003, she was in charge of program ethics, signage, theme channels and the protection of children and teenagers.
Arcom shares the grief of her family and friends.
