Arcom Chairman Roch-Olivier Maistre and the members of the College were deeply saddened to learn last night of the death of media man and journalist Jean-Pierre Elkabbach.

Jean-Pierre Elkabbach marked sixty years of French public and political life, and occupied an exceptional place in the life of our country's media.

As a journalist and political interviewer, from RTF to Europe 1 and on the small screen, he made his mark with his immense curiosity, his vast culture, his unique tone and his pugnacity in questioning, analyzing and commenting on French and international political life.

As a business leader, he also left his mark on the history of television.

Jean-Pierre Elkabbach was a benchmark. He handled impertinence with a unique talent. Through his commitment, his high standards and his example, he inspired many vocations and gave a chance to many youngsters in journalism.

He said of his last book, published at the end of 2022, that it was not his testament, but that he wished to leave a trace. Jean-Pierre Elkabbach will leave an unforgettable mark on the history of the French media.

Arcom sends its most sincere condolences to his wife and family.
