Radio attracts tens of millions of loyal listeners every day.

A favorite medium of the French, essential for keeping our fellow citizens informed and for social cohesion throughout the country, radio is facing increased competition from new players and a downward trend in audience rates.

Faced with this situation, the vast majority of private commercial radio stations[1] today announced the creation of the "Alliance de la Radio", an association whose aim is to represent the voice of the sector in this context of structural transformation of the radio landscape and revolution in usage.

After the creation of the "Ensemble pour le DAB+" association, tasked with promoting terrestrial digital radio, the birth of the "Alliance de la Radio" demonstrates the sector's ability to envisage its future collectively and ambitiously.

Arcom welcomes the creation of the Alliance de la Radio. It reaffirms its deep attachment to radio and its determination to support - in conjunction with the authorities - the sector's initiatives in this pivotal period of digital transition. With this in mind, Arcom proposed a pathway in its white paper on the future of radio, published last June.
