Arcom today hosted the biannual meeting of independent administrative and public authorities (AAI and API) working in the field of economic regulation.

This first meeting of 2024 was devoted to the latest European regulatory news.Discussions focused in particular on recent French and European texts that have enriched their field of action (European regulations on digital services and digital markets, regulation on media freedom, directive on corporate sustainability reporting...), law on securing and regulating the digital space), as well as on current European discussions closely related to the missions of independent authorities (future of telecoms, regulation of mobility data and gaming, relaunch of the Capital Markets Union, development of artificial intelligence, reform of energy markets, challenges facing infrastructures and development of an industrial approach...). In the run-up to the European elections on June 9, the protection of voters' personal data was also discussed.

More broadly, the meeting enabled the authorities present to exchange views on cross-cutting issues linked to their operations and cooperation, as well as on the publication of the Référentiel général de l'écoconception des services numériques, which has mobilized several of them. They have also decided to set up a working group dedicated to the use of artificial intelligence tools in the exercise of their respective activities, each appointing a coordinator on the basis of a common roadmap. The AAI and API intend to pursue their exchanges to promote and implement ever more effective and integrated regulation, by fully integrating their action into the European concert.

The meeting was attended by the chairmen, secretaries/general managers and cabinets of the following AAIs and APIs: Competition Authority; Autorité nationale des Jeux (ANJ); Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF); Autorité de régulation des communications électroniques, des postes et de la distribution de la presse (Arcep); Autorité de régulation de la communication audiovisuelle et numérique (Arcom); Autorité de régulation des transports (ART); Haute autorité de l'audit (H2A); Commission de régulation de l'énergie (CRE) and Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (CNIL).
