European elections 2024: Arcom summons publishers to strictly respect the rules of political plurality
Today, Arcom deliberated on how to account for the interview that the President of the Republic will give on Thursday June 6 on France 2 and TF1, and which will be shown simultaneously on franceinfo and LCI. In accordance with Conseil d'Etat jurisprudence, statements made by the President of the Republic are counted if, by virtue of their content and context, they fall within the scope of political debate linked to the elections.
Thus, all or part of the remarks made during this interview may be taken into account as part of the election campaign, as was the entire speech given by the President of the Republic at the Sorbonne on April 24, 2024.
Arcom has therefore sent a letter to the two audiovisuel groups concerned asking them to inform us without delay of the measures they intend to take, including in advance, to guarantee all lists full respect for fair presentation and access to their airwaves.
In this context, a number of candidate lists, concerned about not having fair access to antennas, were received at the Authority's headquarters yesterday, at their request.Arcom assured them of its full vigilance to ensure the balance of democratic debate on all TV and radio channels, before the end of the electoral campaign set for midnight on Friday June 7.
