Meeting of independent administrative and public authorities: exchanges on the challenges posed by the digital transition
On October 21, 2022, the French national data protection agency (CNIL) welcomed the independent administrative and public authorities (AAI and API). This biannual meeting provides an opportunity to share experiences, and aims in particular to identify actions to be taken by regulators to meet the challenges posed by the digital transition.
During this second session of the year 2022, the independent administrative authorities (AAI) and independent public authorities (API) debated possible courses of action to meet the challenges posed by the widening scope of their powers and the increasing complexity of the issues they have to deal with as part of their missions.
Discussions focused in particular on cybersecurity, the use of new technologies, the training of staff in ecological transition for sustainable and eco-responsible administrations, and improving the collection of whistleblower reports in the light of recent legislative developments.
The AAIs and APIs are keen to continue adapting their working methods, fostering consultation and creating more synergies between them for effective, integrated regulation.
The meeting was attended by the chairmen, secretaries and managing directors of the following AAIs and APIs: Competition Authority, Autorité nationale des Jeux (ANJ), Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), Autorité de régulation des communications électroniques, des postes et de la distribution de la presse (Arcep), Autorité de régulation de la communication audiovisuelle et numérique (Arcom), Autorité de régulation des transports (ART), Commission nationale du débat public (CNDP), Commission de régulation de l'énergie (CRE) and Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (CNIL).
