Preparing for the launch of DTT services in ultra-high definition

The French government has asked the Authority to grant France Télévisions the right to use frequencies to show France 2 and France 3 in ultra-high definition over a large part of mainland France and nine overseas France territories, as of 2024. Other service editors have also expressed interest in showing a service in this format at this time.

To meet these demands, amultiplex using new norms will be deployed. The Autorité has launched several technical projects in this direction. Today, it is launching a public consultation to determine the capacity of this multiplex, and in particular the number of ultra-high definition services it could accommodate.

Responses to the public consultation are due no later than September 13, 2023.

They will help determine the manager in which requests for ultra-high definition broadcasts can be processed, in application of the relevant provisions of the French law of September 30, 1986 on freedom of communication.
