Press release
Arcom has become aware of press reports that members of its staff commented in inappropriate terms on February 21 on the decision not to renew C8's authorization on DTT.
Arcom would like to point out that none of the members of the college, who were in office either now or at the time of the decision made public on December 12, 2024, and who were the sole decision-makers, were in the area mentioned on February 21. Furthermore, contrary to what was reported on Europe 1, Arcom's head office has not been located in this district since the beginning of January.
As it stands, the Authority has no factual evidence to support the allegations made, and reserves the right to take any action it deems necessary to protect itself and its staff.
Arcom also points out that the decision to show 10 free-to-air channels on DTT when current licenses expire, and not to renew those of C8 and NRJ 12, was based on a comparative examination of the 19 projects submitted, according to the criteria defined by law, an examination which led to the authorization of two new channels. In a reasoned decision published on February 19, the Conseil d'Etat confirmed the legality of the proceedings and their outcome.
