Promoting musical diversity in the media: Arcom and the Centre national de la musique sign a partnership agreement
The French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication (Arcom) and the Centre national de la musique (CNM) announce the signature of a three-year partnership agreement to implement joint actions to guarantee the diversity, renewal and freedom of musical creation in the media.
Roch-Olivier Maistre, Chairman of Arcom, and Jean-Philippe Thiellay, Chairman of CNM, signed a three-year partnership agreement yesterday, Monday June 19, to implement this collaboration in a number of areas:
- Mutual consultation
Arcom and the CNM will browse each other on all subjects of common interest in the field of musical creation and its diffusion in the media. They also agree to keep each other abreast of new issues affecting the music and variety industry, and to exchange views on how to address them.
- Strengthening collaboration in terms of research and observation
Arcom and the CNM wish to strengthen their collaboration in terms of studies and observation of the music and variety industry, in particular to facilitate the mobilization of professionals in the sector. This collaboration will involve coordinating their respective study programs and, where appropriate, setting up partnerships in the form of co-production or co-financing of observation projects.
- Awareness raising initiatives to protect the rights of industry stakeholders
Arcom and the CNM wish to set up joint resources for music professionals and the general public, to promote awareness of the challenges of diversity in terms of the diffusion of musical works and the protection of the rights of authors, composers, performers, publishers and producers, as well as the challenges of equal access for men and women to the music and variety professions, and the fight agains all forms of discrimination.
