The programme ‘Dimanche en politique’ was shown on 15 February 2026, featuring an appearance on France 3
A complaint was lodged with Arcom following the diffusion on 15 February 2026 on France 3, during the programme *Dimanche en politique*, of comments made by MP Elsa Faucillon regarding Raphaël Arnault.
Under the provisions of Article 1 of the resolution of 18 April 2018 on the accuracy and independence of news and the programmes that contribute to it, ‘The broadcaster of an audiovisuel service must ensure the integrity of the news and the programmes that form part of it. (…) The broadcaster must guarantee the accuracy and sources of each piece of news. Where possible, the source of the news must be indicated. Uncertain information shall be presented in the conditional tense. The broadcaster shall demonstrate rigour in the presentation and handling of information.” Furthermore, pursuant to Article 35 of France Télévisions’ terms of reference, ‘In accordance with the principle of equal treatment and the notices of the French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication, France Télévisions ensures the honesty, transparency, independence and plurality of information, as well as the pluralistic expression of schools of thought and opinion. […] The company retains control of its broadcasting at all times in accordance with its internal control scheme.”
Arcom noted that during the disputed segment, the programme’s guest stated that Raphaël Arnault had always called for non-violence and pacifism in his anti-fascist fight, without any mention being made of his sentence for acts of violence issued by the Lyon Criminal Court in 2022, which had nevertheless been widely reported following the death of Quentin Deranque
It also noted that these remarks were neither put into context nor corrected by the programme’s presenter.
Consequently, Arcom considered that this segment contravened, on the one hand, the obligation of honesty and rigour in the treatment of information and, on the other hand, the requirement to exercise control over broadcast content, as mentioned above, which are incumbent upon the channel.
Consequently, it strongly reminded the broadcaster of the need to ensure compliance with these two obligations.
