The general reference framework for the eco-design of digital services aims to define the criteria for the sustainable design of digital services in order to reduce their environmental footprint.

The French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication (Arcom) and the Autorité de Régulation des Communications Electroniques, des Postes et de la Distribution de la Presse(Arcep), in conjunction with the Agence de la Transition Ecologique(ADEME), have drawn up a general reference framework for the eco-design of digital services. The French Interministerial Digital Affairs Directorate (DINUM), the French national data protectionagency (CNIL) and the French National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology(INRIA) have also made significant contributions to this standard.
