Arcom committed to fight agains smoking

Arcom has once again responded to the Ministry of Solidarity and Health's summons. The Authority relays information between the Ministry of Health and television and radio stations on the National Tobacco Control Program (PNLT) 2018-2022.

For this seventh edition of the Month Without Tobacco operation, Arcom has mobilized and encouraged channels to:

  • show Public Health campaign spots,
  • offer specific editorial coverage and dedicated programs,
  • organize in-house events on the subject,
  • invite female presenters to wear the "Tobacco-Free Month" badge.

No tobacco advertising on TV and radio

Arcom ensures that programs shown on television and radio comply with the overall ban on advertising and propaganda for tobacco products (EVIN law of January 10, 1991) and vaping products (electronic cigarettes and their components, refill bottles). In its deliberation of June 17, 2008, the AMF does not tolerate any listing of tobacco in the advertising screens of television and radio service editors. Smoking is also prohibited in on-set and studio programs. With regard to reality TV shows, given their major impact on youngsters, Arcom demands that the diffusion of images of candidates smoking in open spaces be avoided.

Finally, every year, Arcom mobilizes and raises awareness among its teams, in Paris and in its 16 regional delegations, about the fight against smoking, and organizes personalized consultations with tobaccologists.
