Arcom re-signs l'Autre Cercle's LGBT+ Charter of Commitment to ensure an inclusive work environment

    At the same time as it is working towards the "diversity" and "gender equality" labels, Arcom is renewing its commitment to the inclusion of LGBT+ people in the workplace with the association l'Autre Cercle.

    In France, 4 out of 10 LGBT+ workers feel that their career has been negatively impacted because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Employees who feel more isolated in their working environment than they did five years ago, particularly Generation X.

    In the workplace, discrimination based on sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, morals or health status is prohibited by law. Whether it's moral or sexual harassment, refusal to hire, dismissal or obstruction, discrimination linked to sexual orientation affects all sectors, including the audiovisual industry.

    Arcom commits to its agents and raises awareness among operators in the sectors it regulates

    As part of its mission to ensure respect for human dignity, accessibility of television programs for people with disabilities, regulation of online platforms and respect for the representation of diversity in our society's media, Arcom raises awareness among its audiences and gives concrete expression to its commitments, both to operators and users, and within its own organization.

    Committed to diversity and inclusion and against discrimination, in March 2020 the Autorité signed the LGBT+ Charter of Commitment of the association l'Autre Cercle for the first time, committing itself in particular to fight homophobic remarks or behavior in the workplace.

    According to the 4th edition of the LGBT+ Barometer, LGBT+ employees of organizations that have signed l'Autre Cercle's Charter of Commitment experience fewer threats and assaults in their professional environment.

    In the presence of Roch-Olivier Maistre, Chairman of the Authority, Laurence Pécaut-Rivolier, member of the College and Chair of the "Protection des publics et diversité de la société française" working group, and representatives of l'Autre Cercle, Arcom signed the association's LGBT+ Charter of Commitment on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

    Representing diversity, women's rights, the rights of disabled people, fighting against racial, religious or sexual discrimination, Arcom regularly raises awareness and mobilizes the audiovisual media, while ensuring compliance with their obligations regarding the content of the programs they show.

    Whenever a breach is found, Arcom intervenes with radio and television services to fight agains incitement to hatred or violence for reasons of alleged race, sex, morals, religion or nationality, as made provision for in the 1986 law.
