The European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA) regularly brings together heads and senior representatives of independent national regulatory bodies in the field of audiovisual services.

The 19th plenary meeting of the European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA) was held in Naples on June 29, 2023 under the chairmanship of the Italian media regulator.

In particular, members exchanged views with the European Commission on current policy initiatives and adopted statements on the European Media Freedom Act and the Transparency of Political Advertising Regulation, underlining the central role that audiovisual regulators are summoned to play in the implementation of both regulations.

The European Regulators' Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA) is a consultative body of the European Commission created by a decision of February 3, 2014. It brings together the heads of the audiovisual regulation authorities of the twenty-seven member states of the European Union.

Its mission is to provide the European Commission with coordinated and operational input from regulators on any issue relating to audiovisual media services and the European regulatory framework. It also facilitates cooperation and the exchange of experience and best practice between regulators.

Arcom chaired the ERGA in 2014 and 2015.

In recent years, Arcom has coordinated ERGA's work on thedevelopmentdue European regulatory framework, including the Digital Services Act (DSA - Digital Services Act) (see ERGA's position on the DSA, in pdf.) and theEuropean Media FreedomAct(EMFA - European Media Freedom Act). Arcom also plays an active role in the Group's other projects, notably the Audiovisual Media Services Directive and the fight against disinformation.
