New DAB+ advertising campaign on radio from February 16 to March 2

From February 16 to March 2, 2026, the "Ensemble pour le DAB+" association is launching a new campaign to promote DAB+ on radio stations. The aim of this initiative is to inform and raise public awareness of the benefits of digital terrestrial radio.

The"Ensemble pour le DAB+" association has been supporting the rollout of DAB+ across the country since 2024.
The messages produced by the association emphasize the benefits of DAB+ for listeners:
- improved digital sound quality compared to FM ;
- access to a greater number of local and national stations;
- free listening, with no need for mobile data or an Internet connection;
- continuity of listening on the move.

What is digital terrestrial radio or "DAB+"?
"DAB" stands for Digital Audio Broadcasting. The "+" corresponds to an evolution of the worldwide digital terrestrial radio (DTR) broadcasting standard.
DAB+ is a digital modulation and transmission technology for radio. Like digital terrestrial television (DTT) and FM, this technology uses the terrestrial hertzian broadcasting network. Grouped together in multiplexes or ensembles, several digital terrestrial radios (around thirteen radio services) can transmit on the same frequency.
Unlike DTT for television, DAB+ has the advantage of being able to cohabit with the "traditional" broadcasting mode for radio, namely the FM band. In this way, digital terrestrial radio can work in tandem with FM broadcasting, just as DTT very quickly replaced analog television broadcasting in France.
Deployed in many European countries, it is enjoying great success, particularly in the UK, Scandinavia (Norway) and Switzerland.
As with FM, DAB+ radio reception is completely free of charge.
