Arcom intervenes with several sites to stop the diffusion of content from Russian channels under European legal sanctions.
Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, Arcom has stopped the broadcasting of several Russian channels in application of the law of September 30, 1986 or European sanctions regulations aimed, directly or indirectly, at Russian media.
In this context, Arcom recently enforced the new powers conferred on it by the SREN law of May 21, 2024, by giving formal notice to Eutelsat to stop the diffusion of two Russian channels controlled by a company whose economic resources had been frozen in application of the European Union Council regulation of March 17, 2014.
Continuing its action in this area, Arcom decided today, on the basis of the same law, to have 19 official Russian media sites subject to direct or indirect legal sanctions blocked and delisted, and to give formal notice to a streaming site and three Russian online platforms to stop showing sanctioned Russian media content.
The regulator also decided to send letters of observation to five streaming sites showing sanctioned content hosted outside Russia.
The regulator will continue to use all the means at its disposal to stop the diffusion in France of Russian media targeted by European legal sanctions, as well as the resumption of their content by online platforms accessible in France.
