Roch-Olivier Maistre, Chairman of the French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication (Arcom), and the members of his board were saddened to learn of the death of Jean Maheu.

A man of culture with a passion for music, Jean Maheu headed a number of national cultural institutions. He was notably director of music, opera and dance at the French Ministry of Culture, president of the Orchestre de Paris and vice-president of the Opéra de Paris. In 1989, after six years at the helm of the Centre national d'art et de culture Georges Pompidou, he was appointed Chairman and CEO of Radio France by the French Superior Audiovisual Council. He served two successive terms, leaving his mark on the history of the Maison Ronde.

Arcom pays tribute to the statement of case of a great connoisseur of radio, whose human and professional qualities left a lasting impression on all his colleagues and the teams he led during his long career in the service of our country's cultural life. The President and members of Arcom join their thoughts with those of his family and friends, to whom they extend their deepest condolences.
