Arcom welcomes the signing of an agreement between Apple and the professional organizations of the audiovisual creation sector
The regulation is delighted that an agreement has been signed between Apple and the professional organizations of the audiovisual industry concerning the Apple TV+ service for a period of four years. This agreement has been translated into a binding agreement between Apple and the regulator.
Through this agreement, Apple is committed to further supporting the production of European and original EOF works. Arcom would like to salute Apple TV+'s commitment to animation and documentaries.
The regulator would like to summon the signature of similar agreements in line with those already signed by Amazon, Netflix and now Apple.
As the Autorité indicated in its recent study on the implementation of the SMAD decree, carried out with the CNC, foreign on-demand audiovisual media services have, in recent years, made a significant contribution to the financing of creation [1].
The regulator will continue to ensure that service editors, alongside all other stakeholders - authors, producers, distributors and national editors - contribute to the financing and promotion of French and European cinematographic and audiovisual creation.
[1] 866 M€ of expenditure declared since 2021 by the three services Disney+, Netflix and Amazon.
