France Télévisions presidency: nomination proceedings

The French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication (Arcom) today published a deliberation on the conditions for appointment to the presidency of France Télévisions for a term starting August 22, 2025.

Timetable
Applications, together with a strategic plan (maximum 30 pages) and evidence of the candidate's background and experience, should be sent to the Authority exclusively by e-mail. Applications will be received until 12 noon on April 18, 2025. Hearings will take place as of May 12, 2025, and Arcom will appoint the next President of France Télévisions by May 22, 2025 at the latest.

Details
The hearings will take place in two parts: a maximum of one hour of presentation by the candidate, followed by an initial discussion with the Arcom panel; then a maximum of one hour of discussion behind closed doors. The Authority will vote by a majority of its members, by secret ballot, on the choice of the person to be appointed Chairman.

Advertising rules
The Authority will draw up a list of eligible candidates, by a majority of its members and by secret ballot, which will give rise to a hearing. This list will be made public no later than May 5, 2025.

At the end of all the hearings, the full recordings of the first parts of each hearing and the strategic plans of the candidates interviewed will be made available on the Arcom website.

The appointment decision will be motivated and made public.
