This note sets out the main financial results of the companies that publish the 24 national free-to-air channels shown in France on free DTT for 2022.

TV channels concerned:

  • France Télévisions group channels: France 2, France 3, France 4, France 5, franceinfo:, France Ô ;
  • TF1 group channels: TF1, LCI, TMC, TFX and TF1 Séries Films;
  • M6 group channels: M6, W9, 6ter, Gulli ;
  • Canal Plus group channels: CNews, C8, CStar ;
  • Altice Médias group channels: BFM TV, RMC Découverte and RMC Story ;
  • NRJ group channels: NRJ 12, Chérie 25 ;
  • the L'Equipe channel.

The parliamentary channels (Public Sénat and LCP-Assemblée nationale) and Arte are not examined, as they fall within the competence of the Authority.

Despite a 2% drop in sales in 2022, the financial results of free-to-air channels show a slight increase.

In 2022, total sales for the 24 national free-to-air channels studied amounted to €5,615m, down 2% on 2021 (-€93.1m), a decline that affected both private (-€52.4m) and public (-€40.7m) channels. The profitability of free-to-air channels is positive in 2022 (up 4% on 2021), but remains low. Cumulative operating income for all free-to-air channels came to €158m, or less than 3% of total sales.
