    The French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication, Arcom, has published its 2022 financial review of 75 pay-TV channels (including Canal+ channels) produced by 33 companies.

    Sales for all 75 pay-TV channels surveyed came to €2,857.6m, up 4% on 2021. This improvement is mainly due to sales growth for the three beINSPORTS channels. The Canal+ channels are down by 3%, and the 71 other pay-TV channels by 4%.

    Pay-TV channel profitability is positive in 2022, but remains low (€10m).

    Summary of sales figures for free-to-air and pay-TV channels in 2022

    Total sales for free-to-air and pay-TV channels in 2022 will amount to €8,473m (66% free-to-air, 33% pay-TV), stable compared to 2021. Excluding France Télévisions Group's public channels, total sales for the sector amount to 5,659 M€, up 1% on 2021.

    Advertising revenues for all channels combined amount to €3,115 million in 2022 (37% of total sales), down 2% on 2021.
